Financial Aid & Scholarships
The Mathematics and Statistics Department has a variety of departmental scholarships available for undergraduates and graduates (see below). Cleveland State University and the College of Arts and Sciences also offer a variety of scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students. We also provide a Roadmap to Financial Aid that simplifies the process. Students are encouraged to fill out the FAFSA form for consideration of all types of financial aid.
Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program is a state-funded program aimed at graduating more students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The State of Ohio recognizes that a workforce trained in these areas is essential for strengthening our economy.
Undergraduate students who are pursuing a degree in Mathematics are eligible to apply. For more information, please click the link below.
Ann M. Frangos Mathematics Scholarship
Approximately $5,000 annually is awarded based on need and academic merit to CSU math majors, thanks to a generous gift from Ann M. Frangos and Louis Frangos. To learn more about Ann N. Frangos, read the article here.
Eligibility: Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior-level students majoring in Mathematics. Must show promise in mathematics and demonstrate financial need. Note: To be considered for need-based awards, students must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file.

College of Graduate Studies: Master of Science in Statistics and Analytics
CSU is proud to offer scholarships for a select number of incoming graduate students who have been accepted to our new Master of Science (MS) in Statistics and Analytics.
To qualify, you must:
- Be an admitted domestic student or
- Have an application on file for either the Master of Science (MS) in Statistics and Analytics
- If you have yet to apply, please apply here before completing the application.
- Be a new, incoming domestic graduate student with the intent to enroll in either Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 semesters.
- Awards are up to 25% of a domestic full or part-time student's tuition annually (maximum of $6,000). Learn more about tuition rates here.

Operation STEM Scholar Program
OpSTEM at Cleveland State University (CSU) is a student success initiative designed to recruit, support, and retain students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). OpSTEM has implemented targeted interventions to address the challenges that students sometimes face while completing their STEM degrees. The program's primary focus is on supporting students to succeed in their introductory precalculus and calculus courses, which are known to provide a critical foundation for all STEM disciplines.
Additionally, first-year scholars will earn monetary stipends based on their participation:
- 2026 OpSTEM Summer Institute | $400 CampusNet Scholarship
- Fall 2026 Scholar Requirements | $300 CampusNet Scholarship
- Spring 2027 Scholar Requirements | $300 CampusNet Scholarship
Honors Program Scholarship
The Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Honors College Honors Program offers competitive scholarships to incoming freshmen. Admission to Honors involves a holistic review of each applicant. Students in Honors should have taken challenging courses in high school and demonstrate their capacity to maintain a 3.5 GPA in college. Mandel Honors College admits students to programs for the Fall semester only. The scholarships are renewable for up to eight semesters.
