Mathematics' Alex Hoover Publishes Two New Biology-focused Articles

Dr. Alexander Hoover, an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, has published two new articles related to his research in mathematical biology, computational fluid dynamics, and biomechanics.
Emergent Kinematics and Flow Structure of Tension Driven Pulsing Xeniid Corals, published in the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology with co-authors Matea Santiago and Laura Miller, relates to pulsing soft coral and the fluid mechanics related to their motion.
Research into mathematical methods to model microscopic swimmers such as bacteria led to A regularised force-doublet framework for self-propelled microswimmers, published in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics with co-authors Priya Boindala and Ricardo Cortez.
