DEGREE WHY?

MINOR

Interested in physics; strengthen resume; enhance analytical skills; seamless transition to BA/BS if desired.

BACHELOR OF ARTS (BA)

Prepare for a broad range of technical/science careers or graduate professional programs (medical physics, patent processing, teaching); very flexible allowing pursuit of a double-major; seamless transition to BS if desired.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (BS)

All of the above; very rigorous preparation for graduate programs in science and engineering; also offered as an honors/scholars version; also offered as an accelerated 4+1 Bachelor of Science/Master of Science version.

With a research-active faculty core, multiple grant-funded projects, access to state-of-the-art facilities, and an award-winning student society, the department offers ample opportunities for building fundamental and applied skills, networking, and working with faculty in their research labs. The program is sized to provide individual engagement of the students while allowing us to offer the necessary courses to assure a solid preparation in the fundamentals of physics and its applications.

Graduates of our programs work in industry, academia, or for the government, with successful careers in research, engineering, programming, design & development, service, sales, and teaching.

ADVISING:

It is important to regularly check with your advisor regarding course and degree completion, for all of the above programs. Our advisors can assist you with:

  • finding the most efficient way to fit the required classes in your schedule;
  • making the best choice between our degree offerings (Minor, BA, BS, Accelerated BS/MS) based on your career and graduation goals.
  • transferring into the CSU system from another university or college;
  • planning to transfer to another University after you have done part of your coursework here at CSU.

Our undergraduate program director, Dr. Kiril Streletzky,  can help you with these choices.
