Today's Friday Focus features Dr. Matt Nordlund, who is an Assistant College Lecturer in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Nordlund is originally from Minnesota, where he received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Hamlin University before moving to Ohio to pursue his MA and PhD in I-O Psychology at the University of Akron. Prior to pursuing his passion for psychology, Dr. Nordlund tried several disciplines as an undergrad, including sociology and anthropology; however, psychology just eventually "stood out." While completing his PhD, Dr. Nordlund never envisioned himself crafting a career as a teacher, yet he has found a successful niche as an educator. Prior to obtaining his full-time position in the department, Dr. Nordlund served as a part-time instructor at CSU for several years. Dr. Nordlund was drawn to the diversity of the CSU environment and the freedom to contribute to student learning in so many ways. Dr. Nordlund's most memorable moments as a faculty member include the innumerable positive experiences with students. When not teaching, Dr. Nordlund enjoys spending with his family, watch movies, and hone his Brazilian jiu jitsu skills.
