Thanks to generous support from the Physics Dept alumni and friends during the 2024 CSU’s Giving Day, each semester the department awards one Giving Day Physics Scholarship. A recipient is chosen by the undergraduate curriculum committee based on students' academic merit, contributions to the department, and research achievements. The first recipient of the 2025-2026 academic year is Emily Schaffer (BS Physics and Biology minor; SPS secretary; physics undergraduate TA; undergraduate researcher with Dr. Resnick), Fall 2025 recipient of the Giving Day Physics Scholarship. Below she expresses her gratitude for the scholarship support:

“I want to send my sincere thanks for being awarded the Giving Day Scholarship this semester. I am honored to have been selected and appreciate the generosity of the donors and Cleveland State. This not only lightens the financial burden of my education but also motivates me to continue striving for excellence in my studies and future goals. I can now focus more on my classes and schoolwork rather than working which is a huge relief and I’m grateful for that opportunity.”
