Tarun K. Mal Memorials

The BGES Department has established the Tarun K. Mal Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of our former faculty member, who died tragically in August 2005, following a laboratory accident. Associate Professor Mal was a distinguished researcher and teacher whose main interests included the evolutionary biology of invasive plant species, such as Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) shown in the photograph below. Dr. Mal was the Department's advisor for students in our Environmental Science programs.

The Tarun K. Mal Memorial Scholarship Fund will be used to support the education of Environmental Science students in the Department. Donations may be made via Cleveland State University's Development Office (phone 216-687-3557 or email giving@csuohio.edu), under Millenium Code 1991.

In May, 2006, a Tarun K. Mal Memorial Magnolia Tree (shown below) was planted in front of the Science Research Building in memory of Dr. Mal.
