This summer I had the opportunity to attend Michigan State University's Nuclear Science Summer School. We spent a week at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRiB) getting hands-on experience learning about nuclear physics. We had lectures from a variety of professors and researchers at the school, along with activities to put our knowledge into practice. We learned about the different types of decay and the properties of nuclei and how that relates to the work they do at FRiB. There were also lectures on different grad school programs and advice on how to choose what grad program was right for us. It was a wonderful experience getting to learn about something so in depth while collaborating and meeting fellow students in the same field.” Emily Schaffer.
