FMA Internship Information

These are some of our Internship Partners:

BFA candidates are required to take 3 credit hours of FMA 490 The Internship, typically in their Senior or Junior year. Students are responsible for seeking out and securing a film-related internship before the start of the semester they plan to take the course. FMA 490 – Receiving College Credit for Internships
  1. Before applying for an internship, familiarize yourself with the FMA 490 Internship Guidelines. Then, complete the Internship Application and submit to the Administrative Coordinator in FM 615 or via email.

  2. After receiving department approval on the application via email, begin applying to available internship opportunities. Students are responsible for securing their own internships and open opportunities can be found the School of Film & Media Arts private Facebook group, CSU’s student employment portal Handshake, company websites, and professional association websites.

  3. Upon being hired on for an internship, complete the Internship Agreement and get your supervisor to sign it. Submit the completed agreement to the Administrative Coordinator in FM 615 or via email.

**In order to be approved, internships will need to fulfill the required hour commitment of 50 hours of per credit hour, capping at 150 hours of work for a maximum of 3 credit hours. Even if the internship does not last the entire semester, a student must put in 150 hours of work total in order to earn 3 credits.

  1. If approved, students will receive an email with instructions to register for a specific section of FMA 490. Enroll in the course immediately upon receipt of the email.

  2. The instructor of record listed on CampusNet for your section should receive all supplemental materials required for the internship. These materials include the Employer Midterm Evaluation, which should be completed by your internship supervisor at the midpoint of your internship, and the Employer Final Evaluation, which should be completed by your internship supervisor at the conclusion of the internship.

  3. All supplemental materials will need to be turned in to the instructor of record prior to finals week in order to receive academic credit for the course.
