Located in the heart of Playhouse Square, Theatre and Dance at Cleveland State University is where artists discover their voice, expand their craft, and prepare for meaningful careers in the arts and beyond.

We are a vibrant community of actors, dancers, designers, directors, playwrights, technicians, scholars, and creators who believe great art is built through curiosity, collaboration, and bold imagination. Here, every student is encouraged to explore new ideas, take creative risks, and develop their unique artistic perspective while working alongside passionate peers and accomplished faculty in state-of-the-art professional facilities.

Our nationally recognized faculty are active professionals who mentor students in a challenging, supportive environment that values both artistic excellence and personal growth. Through hands-on production experience, innovative coursework, and meaningful collaboration, students graduate as versatile theatre and dance artists and critical thinkers equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving creative landscape.

Whether your passion is onstage, backstage, or beyond, CSU Theatre and Dance empowers you to create work that matters—and to become the artist you aspire to be.

Students may specialize in acting, directing/choreography, design/technical theatre, or dance. NOTE: You do not need to audition to declare a major or minor in Theatre and Dance.
