PSI CHI Wins Alberta Johnson/Ruth Hubbard Cousin Building Bonds Awards

news09102021.jpgThis past Summer, Cleveland State University’s local Psi Chi chapter was awarded the Alberta Johnson/Ruth Hubbard Cousin Building Bonds Award in collaboration with the Psi Beta chapter through our partnership school, Lorain County Community College. In collaboration, both chapters hosted a panel of clinical professionals that discussed autism and other intellectual disabilities. Cleveland State’s own, Colleen McMahon, Ph.D., Associate Professor in Psychology, and Deborah Layman, Ph.D., MT-BC, Associate Professor in Music Therapy, joined with Thomas Scheidemantel, M.D., of University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, to lead the Zoom discussion and presentation.  This panel allowed Psi Chi and Psi Beta members to learn more about autism and other intellectual disabilities from professionals who interact with this population regularly.  Both chapters are grateful for this award and the valuable knowledge it provided.

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology focused on excellence in scholarship, academics, and the science of psychology.
