Friday Focus: Dr. Alan Ho

AH

Today’s Friday Focus features a long-serving part-time instructor in the department, Dr. Alan Ho. Dr. Ho received his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Emory University and then obtained an MPH at the University of Pittsburgh before pursuing his PhD in Psychology at Case Western Reserve University. While finishing up his PhD in 2013, Dr. Ho began working as a part-time instructor in our department. While Dr. Ho enjoyed the research aspects of academia, he much prefers teaching, to the point that even now that he has a full-time career as a senior statistical programmer, he makes every effort to continue working with students in the (mostly now virtual) classroom. Dr. Ho enjoys keeping in touch with students he has had in class and learning about how he was able to positively impact their lives. For his efforts as a high-quality instructor, Dr. Ho was honored with the Department of Psychology’s Outstanding Part-Time Teaching Award in 2022. Outside of his teaching and other professional exploits, Dr. Ho enjoys playing tennis and spending time with friends and family.
