Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
For undergraduate students, the Department of Biological, Geological, and Environmental Sciences offers two Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees, three minors, and two certificates.
For graduate students, the Department offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree, two Master of Science (M.S.) degrees with thesis and non-thesis options, and two certificates.
The Ph.D. program is offered jointly by Cleveland State University and the Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic.

Substantial external funding and state of the art equipment enable cutting edge research in two broad foci relating to (1) molecular and cellular understanding of biological processes to identify therapeutic targets relevant to reproductive health, aging, heart disease, infectious disease, and cancer; and (2) ecological and environmental understanding of processes at the organism and ecosystem level in a world of changing climate, urbanization, human impacts, and invasive species.
