Continuing Education (CE) World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures offers non-credit conversational language courses. These non-credit classes will focus on developing practical conversational skills for business or travel and will include relevant cultural information for the language being studied. These courses are designed for people wanting to brush up on or learn a new language, as well as those planning to travel abroad or do business with a foreign country.
Fall 2026 courses have not yet been posted.

Online partner workshops and classes go through a program review prior to reestablishing annual/bi-annual contracts.
Course Descriptions
- Beginning Slovenian I (usually offered in fall): Introduces you to the Slovenian language in the easiest way possible. The course is constructed so you can use the language in everyday situations, with your friends, family, and others. We learn pronunciation; greetings and goodbyes; common and useful phrases and interactions; vocabulary for food, drink, health, and well-being; and of course grammar. A benefit of this course is the Tegrity class link, which is in every single online lecture. This class is entirely online, and you can go at your own pace. The instructor can schedule web or phone meetings as needed to promote your learning. All course materials are included.
- Beginning Slovenian II (usually offered in spring): A continuation of Beginning Slovenian I. This course is constructed to increase your ability to use the language in everyday situations, with your friends, family, and others. It is the next course for those students who have finished Beginning Slovenian I or who have some knowledge of the language. We will learn more useful grammar and pronunciation, as well as numbers, and phrases for the store, market, buying, restaurant, and weather. This class is entirely online, and you can go at your own pace. The instructor can schedule web or phone meetings as needed to promote your learning. All course materials are included.
- Intermediate Slovenian I (usually offered in fall): An introduction to what one could call "second-year" Slovenian. It is the next course for those students who have finished Beginning Slovenian II or who have good knowledge of the language. This course expounds upon grammar and language skills, with new vocabulary and phrases to describe peoples, events, hobbies, locations, home, and things related to it, as well as reading and translating. This class is entirely online, and you can go at your own pace. The instructor can schedule web or phone meetings as needed to promote your learning. All course materials are included.
- Intermediate Slovenian II (usually offered in spring): A continuation of Intermediate Slovenian I. We will cover more advanced, intermediate-level grammar, colloquial language, dialects, and other languages in Slovenian language, reading, business/formal language, more about hotels, ordinal numbers, sports, and exceptions in Slovenian language. This class is entirely online, and you can go at your own pace. The instructor can schedule web or phone meetings as needed to promote your learning. All course materials are included.
- Advanced Slovenian I (usually offered in fall): Advanced Slovenian I is an introduction to what one could call “third-year” Slovenian. It is the next course for those students who have finished Intermediate Slovenian II or who have good knowledge of the language. This class is entirely online, and you can go at your own pace. The instructor can schedule web or phone meetings as needed to promote your learning. All course materials are included.
- Advanced Slovenian II (usually offered in spring): Advanced Slovenian II is a continuation to what one could call “third-year” Slovenian. It is the next course for those students who have finished Advanced Slovenian I or who have good knowledge of the language. This class is entirely online, and you can go at your own pace. The instructor can schedule web or phone meetings as needed to promote your learning. All course materials are included.
Non-CE Academic Credit Courses
