The OpSTEM Summer Institute is a summer bridge experience OpSTEM Scholars must participate in.

During the OpSTEM Summer Institute, scholars will:

  • Engage in math skills review sessions to prepare them for their fall math course;
  • Network and bond with the other scholars in the program; (check out our cohorts)
  • Learn about Cleveland State University's free resources;
  • Participate in STEM & motivational speaker presentations;
  • Explore the buildings on campus to have a better sense of direction once classes start;
  • Receive academic coaching to ensure they have the ideal Fall and Spring schedules;

A scholar's full participation in the OpsTEM Summer Institute will result in a $300 scholarship awarded through CampusNet.

To keep the OpSTEM scholars connected throughout their first year at Cleveland State University, scholars are required to attend professional development workshops, guest STEM Speakers, social events, etc.

A scholar's full participation in each required activity will result in a $300 scholarship awarded through CampusNet. In total, they can receive up to $600 for fall and spring.

Check out the Fall 2024 Requirement Calendar below.

The OpSTEM Winter Institute is an opportunity for students enrolled in any of the courses within the precalculus to calculus sequence to review prerequisite material delivered via engaging, hands-on math skills review sessions.

The institute is held Monday - Thursday from 9am - 2pm the week before the spring semester starts. The math skills review sessions are overseen by the STEM Peer Teachers (SPTs).
