Judith Eckelmeyer, Professor Emerita, has taught a wide variety of courses in music history and literature, often approaching upper-level seminars in an interdisciplinary fashion. In 1990 she initiated an internship program and graduate course in teaching college music and guided more than 20 graduate students through the program.

Dr. Eckelmeyer served as program annotator for the Cleveland Museum of Art's Gala Subscription Series from 1981 to 2000, and the new Musart Mondial concert series since 2000. She conducted the Cleveland State University Collegium Musicum vocal ensemble from 1993 to 1998. She has performed opera roles and sung in choral performances at Cleveland State University, as well as in selected choral performances in greater Cleveland. She founded and directed the Cleveland Choral Union, a community chamber choir, from 1983 to 1993.

Her two-volume monograph, The Cultural Context of Mozart's "Magic Flute," was published in 1991 by the Edwin Mellen Press. Her scholarly research has appeared in The Musical Quarterly (U.S.), The Music Review (England) and elsewhere. She earned her Ph.D. in the Humanities (music history emphasis) at Syracuse University.
