The Education Art Collection at the Cleveland Museum of Art is one of a kind. Created before the CMA opened its doors, the EAC meets students where they are; originally bringing art collections to local libraries and storefronts and later as “Art to Go” in local classrooms. Our team will digitize the over 10,000 EAC artifacts spanning 5,000 years of world history, making them accessible to students, educators, and community members alike.

This collaborative project between the History Department at Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Museum of Art brings the EAC and its educational mission into the 21st century.

Digital humanities, history and Social Studies from Cleveland State University collaborate with the CMA on three main projects; 1. Photographing EAC items, 2. Cataloging each item, and 3. Creating teaching resources aligning EAC objects to Ohio Department of Education Model Curricula. Educators in Northeast Ohio, the United States, and worldwide will have access to the local collections in Cleveland and Cleveland State students will gain valuable hands-on experience at a world-renowned institution.
