"That’s a great research idea! Let’s put it in the HOPR!”

Welcome to the Horvath Organizational Psychology Research (HOPR) Lab! The HOPR Lab, under the supervision of Dr. Horvath, conducts research on many different organizational psychology topics using a variety of methods. Graduate and and undergraduate students, along with faculty at CSU and beyond, collaborate (depending on the project) across all stages of the research process, including literature reviews, study design, data collection and analysis, and writing manuscripts for presentation at conferences and publication in journals. On some projects Dr. Horvath takes the lead, while others are student-led with Dr. Horvath's support.

Industrial-Organizational Psychology (of which Organizational Psychology is a subset) is the application of psychological principles to understand, predict, and influence behavior and cognition in the workplace. Organizational Psychology explores issues such as employee motivation, job attitudes, and worker wellbeing. The HOPR Lab studies a wide variety of Organizational Psychology topics. At the moment, the most common topics include:

  • Job-Seeking / Job Choice
  • Work-nonwork balance
  • Religiosity in the workplace
  • Gender equity in STEM
  • Artificial Intelligence (specifically, large language models) in survey construction
