Chemistry Graduate Students Present Their Work at Annual National Meeting
Chemistry graduate students presented their research work at the 2026 Fall American Chemical Society's annual national meeting.
Second-year Chemistry Ph.D. graduate students Morgan Pychowycz and Corbin Wiley in Dr. Xue-Long Sun’s lab presented their research posters:
- "Modulation of Desialylation of Macrophages Upon LPS Stimulation" -Morgan Pychowycz
- "Enzymatic Degradation and Characterization of Chondroitin Sulfate Isoforms and Their Effects on Thrombomodulin-mediated Protein C Activation" -Corbin Wiley
Both of their poster presentations were selected for participation during Sci-Mix. "Sci-Mix" is a special session honoring the top 10 percent of abstracts submitted to each technical division of the society. Presentation at Sci-Mix is in addition to the primary presentation already scheduled and an interdivisional in-person poster session and mixer. A great honor!
Students from Dr. Mekki Bayachou's lab also presented their research at the meeting as well:
- "Novel Fluorescent Rhodamine Derivatives for In Vitro Bioimaging" -Zahraa Ali
- "Dual Delivery of Curcumin and KRAS siRNA via mPEG-Chitosan Nanoparticles in Lung Cancer" -Lujain Al-khalaileh
Founded in 1876 and chartered by the U.S. Congress, ACS one of the world’s largest scientific organizations with more than 150,000 members in 150 countries. The ACS holds national meetings twice a year covering the complete field of chemistry. The Fall 2026 ACS National Meeting is expected to gather scientists from all over the world to celebrating 150 years of the American Chemical Society.
American Chemical Society (ACS) national meetings offer dedicated graduate student symposia, networking receptions, career workshops, and professional development tailored for early-career scientists.
