Program Description

Develop a fundamental understanding of chemical principles and lab techniques. This minor can complement a variety of majors and enhance your career prospects in industries such as pharmaceuticals, environmental science and materials science. The minor consists of 24 credit hours.


In order to earn a minor in chemistry, students need to complete the following courses:

  • CHM 261 - General Chemistry I or CHM 261H - Honors General Chemistry I
  • CHM 266 - General Chemistry Laboratory I
  • CHM 262 - General Chemistry II or CHM 262H - Honors General Chemistry II
  • CHM 267 - General Chemistry Laboratory II or CHM 267H - Honors General Chemistry Laboratory II or CHM 278 - R.E.E.L. General Chemistry Laboratory II
  • Electives: 13 to 16 additional credits of Chemistry courses numbered 300 or higher
