Liberal Studies Program

Possible Concentrations

Liberal Studies students are encouraged to design a personal theme within the broad major requirements. Majors have built minors, certificates, concentrations, and co-op internships into their course selections. This strategy gave them specific entry-level skills to complement their broad liberal education and thus open up more job opportunities.

Also consider interdisciplinary minors:

  • American Studies
  • Asian Studies
  • Black Studies
  • Criminal Justice
  • Middle Eastern Studies
  • Native American Studies
  • Women's Studies

Almost all departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and in the College of Science also offer minors.  Consult the various departmental pages in the Undergraduate Catalog for the details.

NB: The College of Health recommends the Health Sciences concentration in Liberal Studies for students interested in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and various careers in health care administration, gerontology, and pediatric health.

There is a Pre-Law concentration in Liberal Studies and also a Pre-Professional concentration in Liberal Studies.
