The Sherwin-Williams Career Accelerator Chemistry Learning Community is now accepting applications for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 academic semesters. 

About the program:

The Sherwin-Williams Career Accelerator Chemistry Learning Community is a new and unique program designed for sophomore students in a Chemistry or Chemistry-related undergraduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences at Cleveland State University. This program and the scholarship benefits that come with it are supported by Sherwin-Williams and JobsOhio.

How are students selected?

Students will be selected based on academic achievements (as indicated by their cumulative grade point average), financial need and the student’s major (must be within the Department of Chemistry). The first cohort will start in Fall 2024.

The experience:

Students in the Sherwin-Williams Learning Community cohort will share co-curricular activities and structured experiences that provide the opportunity to explore internships and potential career opportunities in the corporate world. Class activities will be streamlined to allow students in the cohort to prepare and apply for highly competitive summer internship opportunities at Sherwin-Williams.

Planned activities for students in the cohort of this learning community include:

• General long-term career planning and readiness.
• Exposure to career and internship opportunities at Sherwin-Williams and other chemistry employers in the Greater Cleveland area.
• Structured workshops and events with business professionals from Sherwin-Williams and other chemistry companies in NEO
• Specific mentorship on portfolio development, resume building and job placement preparation.
• Workshop on the logistics of applications for internships and structured mock interviews.
• Other activities related to leadership and communication skills development.
