Curtis Wilson Lecture: Body, The Play: An Intimate Look into the Creation of Theater Addressing Sexual Trauma

Ebani Edwards, B.F.A., M.A., LPC, PRS-S.

Ms. Edwards is an actress and performance poet. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bowling Green State University. Her credits include performances at Playhouse Square's State Theatre and Cleveland Playhouse, as well as Cleveland Public Theatre, Dobama Theatre, and the nationally renowned Karamu House. Ms. Edwards has received several awards for outstanding theatrical performances, including Karamu's Best Actress Award for her performance as Desdemona in Othello and the Ohio Thespian's Best Actress Award for Lady in Brown in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. She has been honored to have worked in a two-person production opposite Margaret "Shug" Avery. As a founding member of The Black Poetic Society at Cleveland State University, Ms. Edwards performs also as a Licensed Professional Counselor with The Black Mental Health Corporation in trauma-informed care, couples counseling, and substance abuse disorders.
