A Practice-based Introduction to Corpus and Computational Linguistics

If you are interested in computer-aided linguistic methods, this lecture is for you. During the lecture, you can learn about the core concepts of the field such as concordance, collocate, lemmatization, tokenization, and part of speech tagging. You are encouraged to earn first-hand experience and try out the methods at stake. By the end of the lecture, you will be able to carry out your first computer-aided linguistic research.
To actively participate, please download the freeware corpus analysis toolkit, AntConc and bring your laptop to the lecture.

Hungarian as a Heritage Language in the U.S.
The Hungarian Program at the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures organizes and hosts a virtual conference on Bilingualism and Heritage Language in Hungarian Communities in the U.S. with seven invited speakers from both the U.S. and Hungary. The event is free and open to the public.

Hungarian Language Day at CSU and UD, 2021
Students of HUN 101 Beginning Hungarian, CSU, and students with major in English and Hungarian at the University of Debrecen in Hungary celebrated the Hungarian Language Day together on November 13th. The video below shares their experiences in learning Hungarian and English as a second language.

CSU Hungarian Table at the 65th Hungarian Scout Festival
The Hungarian Program at CSU participated at Ohio’s largest Hungarian Festival to promote the Hungarian classes at the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Besides the course information, attendees were provided with a special “Instant Hungarian Dictionary” as a practical tool for the festival.
