Our Mission

Operation STEM at Cleveland State University empowers students to enter, persist in, and graduate from STEM degree programs through coordinated academic support, faculty and peer mentoring, and professional development opportunities. A key feature of OpSTEM is the sense of community which it fosters among STEM majors. 

The heart of OpSTEM is the group of undergraduate STEM Peer Teachers (SPTs) who design and implement embedded supplemental instruction sessions in introductory mathematics classes for STEM students. The SPTs serve as role models in the classroom. They guide and inspire students, providing positive learning experiences and connection to campus resources, opportunities, and support.
