Admissions Process
Admission Requirements for the Online Master of Science in Computer Science
Applicants are eligible to apply to the online MS in Computer Science program if they have earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from a regionally accredited institution or a bachelor’s degree in any field and meet prerequisite computing knowledge requirements.*
Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's program. Alternatively, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in an applicable master's degree program.
All applicants must submit:
- Graduate admission application and application fee.
- Official transcripts.
- Program-specific admission essay.
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae or resume.
- One professional letter of recommendation.
Applying as a non-computer science student
A foundational knowledge of computer science is essential for success in this program. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree in computer science from an accredited institution or a bachelor’s degree in any field and completed one of the following:
Bridge Program
The Bridge Program includes four foundational courses that you can complete in person or online. This program helps you develop essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in the master's degree. To get started, submit your Bridge Program application.
Computer Science Fundamentals Bootcamp
This bootcamp includes three custom-designed, noncredit courses that allow you to complete the foundational program prerequisites 100% online and in a single summer.

Students will be required to take courses at both Cleveland State University and the University of Akron. Enrollment and successful completion of the following courses will be required:

- PSY 713 - Sensorimotor Processes in Adulthood
- PSY 714 - Neuropsychology of Aging
- PSY 715 - Social & Emotional Development in Later Life

- PSY 699 - Research and Thesis (variable credit) (8 hours)
- PSY 899 - Dissertation (8 hours)
At least 34 credit hours of the following courses:
