Undergraduate Present Physics Research at 2026 USRA POSTER SESSION
The 2026 Undergraduate Research Poster Session was held on September 17, 2026. Six CSU undergraduates presented their physics USRA research projects at this annual event. Jaxon Storm (left) & Jennifer Do (right) presented their USRA projects: “The Dynamics of Microgels with Varying Crosslinker Concentration” and “Culturing, Genetic Modification, and Structural Imaging of Porcine Kidney Cells” and advised by Drs. Streletzky and Resnick, respectively. Benjamin Basel (left) and Patrick Barrett (right) presented their USRA projects: "Parameterizing the Subsiding Shells of Clouds” and “Studying Polymer-Grafted Gold Nanorods using Depolarized Dynamic Light Scattering” advised by Drs. Heus and Streletzky, respectively.
Josh Hoeflich (left) and Jonathan Hammel (right) presented their USRA projects: “Analyzing Collaborative Annotation in the Introductory Physics Classroom” and “Seasonal Accuracy of the MicroHH Large Eddy Simulation's Cloud Fraction Measurements” advised by Drs. Bickel and Heus, respectively. Additionally, two CWRU students from the 2026 cohort of Soft Mpresented their REU collaborative projects between CSU and CWRU. Kaz Nakao (left) presented his project “Effect of Cap Thickness on Catalytic/ Electric Field Mediated Active Janus Particles” co-advised by Drs. Wirth (CWRU) and Ryan (CSU, Math). Trevor Cower (right) presented his project “Confinement Effects in Polymer-Grafted Nanorod Solutions” co-advised by Drs. Hore (CWRU) and Streletzky (CSU). Posters of CSU students were judged by Dr. Fodor and Ms. Peppard. Patrick Barrett got the 1st place and Jonathan Hammal got the 2nd place of the 2026 Best Summer Physics Undergraduate Research Project award.
Congratulations, Patrick and Jonathan!
