FALL 2026 PHYSICS GIVING DAY SCHOLARHIP AWARDED TO JAXON STORM AND EDWARD SANTOS
Thanks to the generous support from the Physics Dept alumni and friends during the 2026 CSU’s Giving Day (we raised $4900 in 2026!), each semester the department awards one or two Giving Day Physics Scholarships. Recipients are chosen by the undergraduate curriculum committee based on students' academic merit, contributions to the department, and research achievements. The first two recipients of the 2026-2027 academic year are Jaxon Storm (left) and Edward Santos (right).
Jaxon is BS Physics Honor senior, SPS treasurer, physics undergraduate TA, undergraduate researcher with Drs. Bickel and Streletzky. Edward is BS Physics junior who is currently looking for a physics related undergraduate research opportunities at CSU.
Both students expressed their sincere gratitude for the scholarship support:
Jaxon: “I would like to officially thank the CSU Physics Department and its donors for supplying this year’s Giving Day Scholarship. While I am already so thankful for the numerous other opportunities this department has provided me both in terms of academics and community, this scholarship will allow me to further my focus and advance the depth of my studies and participation in this department’s community through my final year here at CSU (at least as an undergraduate). I look forward to seeing how my roles as SPS treasurer, outreach co-coordinator, and dual research assistant with Dr. Bickel and Dr. Streletzky blossom throughout this new period of my life and once again would like to thank the CSU physics department and its donors for these opportunities as the Giving Day Scholarship”.
Edward: “I am really grateful to receive the Giving Day Physics Scholarship. Physics can be challenging but learning about how the world works in all senses from the microscopic to the macroscopic scale, is something that I truly love. This Scholarship is going to help me to focus more on my studies and motivate me to keep working toward my academic goal. I want to thank all the donors for giving students like me this opportunity”.
