Overview of Portfolio 

Portfolio Design

All General Studies students are required to take GEN 200 Life Design for General Studies and GEN 400 Workforce Integration Capstone Experience. Those creating portfolios will initiate the process in GEN 200. 

GEN 200 Life Design for General Studies:

• This course is an orientation to the interdisciplinary General Studies program, its requirements, and philosophy.
• All students will design a meaningful academic and career path by exploring their past experiences, interests, and aspirations.
• Those choosing to do a portfolio:
  • The time a portfolio is completed and reviewed varies. A semester is an average time frame for design and the following semester is spent on faculty review.  
  • Students will develop a portfolio to document prior learning for potential college credit, while using life design principles to chart a path to degree completion and careers.

GEN 400 Workforce Integration Capstone Experience:

• This course guides the integration of academic learning with career outcomes.
• Students will engage in a workforce integration experience, allowing them to apply and reflect on their interdisciplinary education.
• The outcomes are specifically constructed to ensure students design future career plans with actionable and intentional steps to successful employment.
